Collection: Vintage Vases

A vase is the object from which design eras can be most quickly discerned. Its form has little to do; it must hold water and support a bouquet, and everything beyond that is attitude. That is why there is hardly any category in which glassworks and pottery workshops have worked so freely.

This selection spans approximately sixty years. From Bohemia come an Art Nouveau trumpet vase with thread overlay and a 1920s Tango glass vase with a network of veins. From Italy comes the Efeso vase by Ercole Barovier for Barovier & Toso from 1968. From Sweden, the Åseda Stubbavas in cobalt blue and Bo Borgström's Amber vase, and from Finland, the Rocket Vase 1379 by Erkkitapio Siiroinen for Riihimäki. Additionally, there are signed studio ceramics and West German ceramics from the 1960s.

The selection deliberately includes glass and ceramics. Those who wish to sort by material will find precise details in the object descriptions, along with dimensions, condition, and, where available, signatures or model numbers.
