Åseda Glasbruk Amber Vase by Bo Borgström, B5 Series, 1970s
Sculptural amber vase from Åseda Glasbruk in Småland, designed by Bo Borgström, who shaped the company's style from the 1960s onwards and positioned its art glass line internationally as far as North America and Australia. The pagoda-like silhouette with three strikingly offset rings on the neck is one of his characteristic forms — each ring is individually pulled from the hot glass, creating a rhythmic, almost architectural profile for the transition to the conical body. The warm amber coloring of the upper part contrasts beautifully with the clear crystal foot, which is crafted as a solid Sommerso base and bathes the vase in a warm ground glow as soon as light falls on it.
The piece belongs to the B5 series of the Åseda collection (B for Borgström, 5 for vase) and was produced in the early 1970s. With a height of 30.5 cm and a diameter of around 13 cm, the vase is a striking solitaire piece for a sideboard, windowsill or console — either on its own or in a series with other Borgström vases of different colors and heights. Without a label, as is common for many Åseda pieces from this period; very good original condition with no chips or scratches.
