Murano Sommerso Faceted Triangular Vase, green, Mandruzzato style, 1960s/70s

A slender triangular prism, tapering slightly towards the top, with sharply ground and highly polished surfaces — each edge at the base is additionally finely beveled. The glass glows in a rich grass green, which lightens towards the center to a brighter, almost yellow-green core: the typical effect of the Sommerso technique, where one layer of color is submerged into a second. Inside, a narrow triangular channel runs through the solid body almost to the bottom. At 24.5 cm high and with a leg length of 7.5 cm at the base, the piece has noticeable weight and stands absolutely securely.

Such block vases were created from the late 1950s in the Murano glassworks, where raw glass bodies were hand-ground and polished into shape. This vase is unsigned and without a label — however, the quality of the grinding, the edge guidance, and the color structure correspond to the well-known Mandruzzato design language. As a solifleur with a single flower, the form is best showcased; in backlight on a windowsill, the glass works like a prism. Condition very good, no chips, no cracks, the ground surfaces are clear and without disturbing scratches.
