Ruscha 313 "Vulcano" handled vase, Kurt Tschörner, Fat Lava, 1960s
A classic of West German post-war ceramics: the Ruscha Model 313 handled vase, designed in 1954 by Kurt Tschörner and produced for over two decades in various decors. The example offered here features the legendary "Vulkano" decor – a vibrant orange-red base glaze with dark reddish-brown melt marks burned in like small lava flows. Olive green and black accents along the strongly curved band handle and spout provide a striking counterpoint. A collector's item that immediately explains why the era of Fat Lava ceramics is once again internationally sought after today.
Compact with factory dimensions of H 15.5 × W 19 × D 16 cm, the vase finds a place anywhere it can instantly become an eye-catcher: on a bookshelf next to a rosewood spine, on a sideboard in front of a geometric graphic of the period, or solo on a side table. The condition is very good, glaze and rims are intact.
