Murano Sommerso Swallow-Tail Vase in Green and Amber, in the style of Flavio Poli, Italy 1960s

A slender, upward-striving vase made of Murano Sommerso glass, blown in a triple layer technique: a rich green color core runs inside from the rim downwards into a warm gold amber, both colors encased in a solid, colorless crystal mantle. The characteristic mouth opens into a soft V-shape, like a swallow's tail, which collectors in Italian catalogs describe as "coda di rondine" — it is the formal characteristic that distinguishes this piece from the common block and spherical Sommerso vases and reveals its kinship with the works of Flavio Poli for Seguso Vetri d'Arte from the late 1950s and 1960s.

With a height of 26 cm, a width of 10.5 cm, and a depth of 6 cm, it is suitable as a solitary eye-catcher on a dresser or as part of a small vase group with other Murano Sommerso pieces. The condition is very good: no chips, no cracks, the glass is transparent in transmitted light and shows the typical few small air bubbles, which indicate hand-blown craftsmanship. The base is flat and polished, without a factory mark or adhesive label — this is the usual condition in the Sommerso segment of the 1960s, as the studios only signed a small part of their production.
