Riihimäki 1379 Rocket Vase, Amber, Erkkitapio Siiroinen, 1968–1976 — with original label

A wide, shallowly curved body from which a long, conical neck gracefully rises—the silhouette collectors refer to as the "Rocket Vase." The amber-colored glass is dipped in a thick clear layer, creating a transparent ring around the warm honey tone at the bottom edge and base. At 20 cm high and 11 cm in diameter, the piece sits heavily and deeply; its thick-walled base gives it a secure stand. The model number 1379 is etched on the bottom, and the original triangular paper label "RIIHIMÄKI SUOMI-FINLAND" with the lynx signet is still fully present—rare for these vases, as it easily detaches when washed.

The shape was designed by Erkkitapio Siiroinen, who joined Riihimäen Lasi in 1968 and was one of the formative designers there until the closure of the craft workshop in the mid-1970s. Model 1379 was produced in several colors—amethyst, midnight blue, red, petrol—with amber best carrying the warmth of the form: in glancing light, the color gradient from the dark shoulder to the light neck is clearly visible. The vase works equally well as a solifleur with a single long-stemmed bloom or as a solitary piece on a dresser. Condition very good, no chips, no cracks, no clouding.
