Pair of soliflore vases made of blue opal glass with yellow rim overlay, hand-blown, 1960s/70s

A pair of small vases with a strikingly clear silhouette: A slender stem rises from a solid, colorless-overlayed base, opening upwards into a wide, flared funnel – a diabolo shape that draws the eye upwards. The body consists of warmly glowing, blue opal glass, which gives the light a milky depth and shimmers between light sky blue and richer cobalt depending on the incidence of light. The top is finished with an applied, bright yellow glass thread that forms a strong ring around the entire rim, creating a deliberately placed color contrast. Both vases are hand-blown, which can be seen in the subtle differences in curve and rim thickness; a narrow hole for a single flower is located in the bottom of each funnel.

With a height of 15 cm and a rim diameter of 10 cm, both vases are compact enough for a windowsill, shelf, bedside table, or set table, and appear significantly stronger as a pair than individually – placed side by side, mirrored at two ends of a shelf, or as table decorations each with a single flower. The condition is very good, without chips or cracks; small manufacturing-related air bubbles and slight irregularities in the color gradient are part of the character of handmade studio glass.
