Collection: Brass

Brass was the metal of post-war modernism. It could be cast, hammered, polished, and patinated; it was cheaper than bronze and appeared warmer than chrome or aluminum. Accordingly, it can be found in all genres: on swing-arm lamps from France, on Italian table lamps in Regency style, on Austrian accessories in the tradition of Carl Auböck and Walter Bosse, and on Scandinavian pendant lamps in combination with glass.

This selection gathers objects from the 1950s to 1970s, in which brass plays a leading role. Among them are wall lamps from France and Belgium, a table lamp by Romeo Rega from Italy, an umbrella stand, a handcrafted Florentine log holder, and several ashtrays.

Regarding condition: Brass ages, and with vintage objects, this is not a defect but the norm. The surfaces show a developed patina depending on the piece, some warmly darkened, some stained. Those who prefer it shiny can polish brass with little effort, but this irreversibly removes the signs of aging. The object descriptions state the current condition so that you can decide whether to preserve or change it.
