Kinkeldey "Belvedere Kristall" Ceiling Lamp — Frosted Glass Spheres & Brass, 1960s/70s

Ceiling light by A. H. Kinkeldey from Bad Pyrmont, from the famous Belvedere Kristall model series, manufactured in the late 1960s to 1970s. The lamp features a dense cluster of satin-finished frosted glass spheres around a central, also satin-finished, glass tube that acts as a diffuser over the single E27 central socket. Each sphere is secured to the white-painted metal frame with a polished brass ball nut — the characteristic Kinkeldey clamping system that groups the spheres like a floating cluster around the center. The brass canopy and central brass rod show the beautiful warm vintage patina of sixty years — not polished, but left in its original surface depth. When lit, the lamp produces a very soft, evenly distributed warm light: The satin-finished spheres break the light from the central E27 bulb (up to 100 W) into a diffused penumbra, filling rooms with a remarkably intimate, warm atmosphere.

Compact size with a diameter of 42 cm and an overall height of 50 cm — a smaller version of the Belvedere Kristall series, ideal for dining tables, foyers, bedrooms, studio lofts, or café interiors where larger Kinkeldey formats would be too imposing. Good to very good original condition: all spheres present and intact (the crucial value criterion for these cluster lamps after six decades — reordering precisely calibrated Kinkeldey frosted spheres is practically impossible), the brass shows its typical warm patina, the painted metal frame is without significant paint loss, and the central E27 socket is intact. A collectible piece of German post-war lighting history from the workshop that received the Design Award International Forum Design Hannover in 1969, and whose Belvedere Kristall series is now among the most sought-after Kinkeldey models.
