A lavish table lamp by Belgo Chrom from the late 1970s, entirely in the Hollywood Regency manner of the Belgian house: a triple-tiered, square base of gleaming brass supports a columnar shaft of alternating brass and chrome rods, which rise like a small bundle of narrow pillars and are again brought together in a brass-chrome cube at the upper collar. This interplay between warm golden tones and cool silver tones is the material signature for which Belgo Chrom became internationally known in the 70s — an inherently clear, almost architectural gesture, carried by high-quality fittings. With a height of 71.5 cm and a shade dimension of 46 × 46 cm, the lamp has an impressive presence and is ideal for a distinguished sideboard, a console in an entrance area, or as a pair on a classic dining room buffet.
The original, trapezoidal fabric shade in warm natural white is bordered with a red-beige woven trim and matches the lamp stylistically; alternatively, it can be exchanged for a modern, black drum shade — this immediately opens the piece to more puristic interiors and emphasizes the sculptural shaft. The lamp is equipped with two E27 sockets; classic incandescent bulbs as well as LED light sources are possible; the cord switch is on the cable. The condition is very good: the brass shows only the delicate, warm patina to be expected after fifty years, the chrome is clear and without pitting, the connections are firm. A decorative statement piece that asserts itself equally well in a classic interior, a Hollywood Regency bedroom, or as a deliberate contrast in a minimalist apartment.
