Heavy Brass and Glass Ceiling and Wall Lamp · France, 1950s

In 1950s France, after the war, artisanal tradition was combined with the restrained elegance that became typical of Parisian interior design of the era. Brass as a warm metallic tone and subtly shimmering glass were among the preferred materials - both in the grand houses of the capital and in the workshops of the provinces. This lamp clearly fits into this context and most likely originates from French production.

Its heavy, prominent construction is characteristic. Weighing 3.1 kilograms with a diameter of 28 centimeters, the piece has a massive substance, as only older manufactured goods possess - the brass appears to be fully worked, the glass body sits snugly in the frame. This design also explains its double usability: the lamp can be used both as a flush-mounted ceiling fixture and as a generous wall sconce. Two E27 sockets provide uniform, warm light.

Very good original condition from the 1950s. A substantial lamp for rooms where material and craftsmanship are meant to remain visible - suitable for classic, modern, and mixed-style interiors.
