Two-Bottle Carrier · Faux Leather & Brass · 1960s
An elegant bottle carrier for two bottles, as seen on every well-kept bar cart in the 1960s: two rectangular compartments made of black faux leather, framed by a structure of shiny brass wires, topped by a tall, gracefully curved carrying handle. The design is deliberately simple and graphic — soft edges, clear proportions, a touch of Parisian elegance. Visible brass rivets on the sides and bottom, as well as four small brass ball feet, give the object the typical jewelry-like character of French Mid-Century leather work. With a height of 36 cm (over the handle), a width of 23.5 cm, and a depth of 13.5 cm, the carrier is large enough for two standard wine bottles and compact enough to make a statement on any sideboard or bar cart.
Formally, the piece clearly belongs to the Adnet style circle: black, slightly shiny faux leather (Skai) on brass — the same material signature that Jacques Adnet developed for accessories in Paris in the 1950s and 60s, and which was adopted by numerous French and Italian leather workshops during that period. The condition is very good: the faux leather is clean, intact, and without tears; the brass shows only the warm patina that has developed over 60 years; the carrying handle is firm. A decorative yet fully functional piece that is just as suitable for Sunday brunch as it is as a still life with two olive oil bottles in the kitchen.
