Romeo Rega Brass Table Lamp, Italy 1970s
Romeo Rega (Rome 1925–1984) is one of the formative figures of the Italian Hollywood Regency style. His brand with the distinctive double R first appeared on New Year's Eve 1969 and, over the following ten years of production, stood for geometric clarity, noble materials, and a touch of Roman elegance. Rega shared a preference for brass, chrome, and reduced forms with Willy Rizzo and Gabriella Crespi.
This table lamp dates from this heyday. The quadratically structured brass stand combines highly polished and matte surfaces—a typical stylistic device of Rega's, which gives the piece noticeable depth and material presence despite its compact size. The original raw silk lampshade provides a warm, textile counterpoint to the cool gleam of the metal.
A lamp with a clear designer's signature and unmistakable origin: Italian workshop quality from the 1970s, suitable for sophisticated residential and collection interiors in modern, classic, or maximalist styles.
