Decorative quail as a fully three-dimensional animal figurine made of brass, cast and hand-chased. The stocky, egg-shaped body with its raised head and sleek plumage is covered all over with fine scale and feather detailing, which stands out particularly sculpturally against the dark background of the engraving. Warm, golden-yellow brass surface with a vibrant antique patina and darker recesses that emphasize the detailing. Naturalistic animal motifs in this style are in the tradition of Art Deco and Art Nouveau animal sculpture; the piece is unsigned, but the heavy solid material and the hand-chased engraving suggest good casting work. As a paperweight, collector's item, or sculptural accent on a desk, sideboard, or bookshelf.

Dimensions: Height 11.5 cm, Width 7.5 cm. Condition: good vintage condition, material intact, no breaks or deformations, age-appropriate patina, fine scratches and signs of wear as well as manufacturing-related casting marks (see photos). The patina was deliberately not polished.
