Horst Kerstan

Vintage Studio Pottery Jug, Horst Kerstan, Kandern

Vintage Studio Pottery Jug, Horst Kerstan, Kandern

This handcrafted ceramic jug originates from the renowned Kanderner ceramic workshop of Horst Kerstan (1941–2005), who took over his teacher Richard Bampi's workshop in the Black Forest in 1965 and became one of the most significant German studio potters of the post-war era. The spherical, elegant silhouette with a tall, cylindrical neck, shaped spout, and curved handle showcases the three-dimensional crystal/flow glaze typical of Kerstan's work, in sage green-grey with dark brown-black speckles and fine flow marks. The base reveals the unglazed, reddish-terracotta body with the impressed workshop mark "K in a circle" – the documented mark of Horst Kerstan's Kanderner workshop.

Dimensions: Height approx. 17 cm, diameter approx. 10.8 cm. Condition: good vintage condition, age-appropriate signs of wear, signed on the bottom with the workshop mark (see photos).
