Ideal Lux Hollywood Regency Chandelier, Brass & Glass Flowers, 5 Lights, Italy, 1980s/90s
Two available, price is per light. Five-light chandelier by Ideal Lux of Mirano near Venice, Italy, late 1980s to 1990s, designed in the Hollywood Regency style. Below the chain and canopy rises a slender brass stem from which numerous curved brass stalks open like a bouquet on two levels: a narrow, upward-facing crown at the top and, beneath it, a wide sweeping arc whose ends tilt outwards. They carry satin-frosted glass flowers with wavy petal edges, each held by a small brass button, and finely embossed brass leaves with detailed veining; a few leaf pairs at the centre are toned darker and form a calm contrast to the bright gold. At the heart of the light, five brass sleeves hold the candle sockets on a round dish.
The original paper label “Ideal Lux SRL, Mirano (VE), Italy, 600 SP/5” survives inside the canopy, confirming maker and model; SP/5 stands for a five-light sospensione. Ideal Lux goes back to Giovambattista Strano, who began making chandeliers from Murano glass in 1969 and whose company Linea Esse became Ideal Lux in 1974. The S.r.l. company form on the label points to production from 1989 onwards. When lit, the frosted flowers glow softly and warmly while the brass leaves catch the light and cast lively reflections into the room. As a pair above a long dining table, in a hallway or facing each other in living room and bedroom, the two lights show their floral, glamorous character at its best; on its own, each adds a romantic accent to classic and eclectic vintage interiors.
Each light measures approx. 46 cm in diameter and approx. 66 cm in height. Both are in very good condition: glass flowers and brass leaves are intact, and the brass shows only minor signs of age. Each light takes five bulbs with E14 sockets; as with all vintage lighting, we recommend installation by a qualified electrician.
