Tamara Aladin glass vase model 1363, amethyst in clear glass, Riihimäen Lasi Oy, Finland 1960s

Heavy, bulbous glass vase with a tall, slender neck: model 1363, designed by Tamara Aladin for the Finnish manufacturer Riihimäen Lasi Oy, 1960s. The amethyst-colored glass core rests within a thick layer of clear glass, which makes the base appear as a solid, visually almost water-filled plinth — an interplay of deep violet and colorless glass that ranges from rose to aubergine depending on the light.

The vase is mold-blown, with the neck subsequently drawn out — typical of Aladin's working method, which characterized over half of the vases produced at Riihimäki in the 1960s. Aladin worked for the manufacturer from 1959 to 1976 and designed over 150 models, predominantly for export, especially to Germany.

Signature: The base bears the sandblasted factory signature "RIIHIMÄEN LASI O.Y. FINLAND" with the model number "1363" — a clear attribution to the manufacturer and model.

Dimensions: Height approx. 17.5 cm, diameter approx. 9.5 cm.

Condition: Very good condition. No chips, no cracks. Small, production-related air bubbles in the glass as well as slight signs of age and use are common features of pieces from this period and do not detract from its impact.

A classic piece of Finnish mid-century glass that works just as well solo as it does in a group with other Scandinavian or Murano sommerso objects.
