Wilhelm & Elly Kuch (zugeschrieben)

Studio pottery vase "Doppelmund", in the circle of Wilhelm & Elly Kuch, Germany 1960s/70s

Studio pottery vase "Doppelmund", in the circle of Wilhelm & Elly Kuch, Germany 1960s/70s

Organic, hand-built stoneware vase in pebble/stone shape with a narrow, slit-like double opening ("double mouth") at the top. The flowing glaze shows speckled olive, ochre, and black tones, remaining unglazed at the bottom and revealing the reddish-brown stoneware body – a characteristic feature of West German studio pottery of the 1960s/70s.

Dimensions: approx. 13.5 x 10 x 15 cm (W x D x H)
Condition: very good, no chips, cracks, or repairs visible

Attribution: On the unglazed base, there is a hand-incised, cursive ligature signature (not a press stamp). The form (organic "stone vase" with double mouth opening), glaze palette, and material correspond to the documented oeuvre of Wilhelm & Elly Kuch (Burgthann near Nuremberg), who, in addition to the usual "KUCH" press stamp, also produced hand-signed unique pieces. Since the signature could not be conclusively matched with a reference signature, the piece is listed as "in the circle of Wilhelm & Elly Kuch" – a stylistically very plausible, but not unequivocally proven attribution.

A characteristic vintage collector's item for lovers of German studio pottery and Mid-Century interiors.
