Signed studio pottery family group, brutalist, signed "LKD 1983"

Father and mother lean their heads towards each other, forehead against forehead, while four smaller figures—the children—nestle against their legs. Grown from a single block, the group resembles a boulder into which someone has, with a steady hand, carved an entire family. The surface is matte, slate-dark, traversed by fine incised lines that suggest hair and garments without fully articulating them. A few red pigment traces on the shoulder are a reminder of the workshop where this piece was created in 1983.

Measuring 28 cm in height, 15.5 cm in width, and weighing approximately 5 kilos, the hollow-worked ceramic sculpture is a complete solo piece—on a console, a low sideboard, or as a serene centerpiece on a bookshelf.
