Steuler Ceramic Vase 317/25, Fat Lava, Yellow-Black, West German Pottery, Vintage 60s/70s
Classic Fat Lava ceramic vase by Steuler Keramik, West Germany, 1960s/1970s. Compressed bottle shape (model 317/25) with broad shoulders, slender neck, and widely flared funnel rim. Crater glaze in typical Fat Lava style: a deep black, foamed lava relief over a bright yellow-orange background, lightening to warm mustard yellow at the edges and rim. Unglazed cream-colored foot ring. On the base, the hexagonal Steuler embossed mark and the model number '317 / 25'. The yellow-black version of this shape is significantly rarer than the commonly found white variant. Steuler Keramik is one of the sought-after names in West German art ceramics, known primarily for designs by Cari Zalloni (series 'Zyklon', 'Cascad', 'Continua').
Dimensions: Height 25 cm, base diameter 14 cm, rim diameter 10.5 cm. Condition: very good vintage condition, glaze fully intact and glossy, no chips, cracks, or repairs, minimal age-appropriate signs of wear on the foot ring and production-related manufacturing marks in the glaze (see photos).
