Swiss furniture and interiors in the 20th century, Arthur Rüegg book
Swiss furniture and interiors in the 20th century, Arthur Rüegg book
This work offers for the first time a comprehensive overview of the development of home culture and furniture design in Switzerland from the end of the 19th century to the present day. After introductory essays by renowned design researchers such as Lucius Burckhardt and Stanislaus von Moos, the book presents seven main chapters, each covering a period of 15 years. These sections are supplemented by dossiers on masterpieces from each era. A compilation of around 20 model apartments offers a compact insight into the significant changes in living styles over the course of the 20th century. The work is rounded off by an object catalog with over 300 illustrated entries as well as around 150 biographies, which provide information that was previously difficult to access, particularly on creation and production dates. This unique standard work is published by ETH Professor Arthur Rüegg and was created in collaboration with the design collection of the Zurich Museum of Design, the Society for Swiss Art History (Bern) and ETH Zurich.
