Pair of Murano "Triedri" Sconces · Crystal Glass & Chrome · Venini Style · Italy 1970s

Four triangular solid glass prisms per lamp, staggered in height and mounted on a chrome-plated base plate: The Triedri shape goes back to a Venini design from the late 1950s and became the signature motif of Italian lighting architecture in the 1960s and 1970s. Each prism refracts the light in a different direction, making the closed crystal front appear almost like an ice relief when switched off. The pair measures 34.5 cm in height, 11.5 cm in width, and only 9 cm in depth – a compact format that can be placed flanking a mirror, bed, or doorway without constricting the space.

When switched on, the character changes: the light flows upwards and downwards in the prism edges and casts a fan-shaped glow on the wall, while the glass bodies themselves begin to glow. The chrome-plated support remains hidden behind the glass and holds the prisms visibly only via the central clamping rail; each lamp works with two E14 sockets and is attached to the wall via the rear bracket. Both lamps can be mounted vertically or horizontally – horizontally results in a wide, flat light band over a sideboard or picture frame. The condition is good: age-related signs of wear on chrome and glass edges, as can be expected from lamps over fifty years old. No factory stamp, which is why the attribution remains "in the style of Venini"; the processing of the frame and the prism quality correspond to the Italian series production of these years.
