Murano Sommerso Splash Bowl, Green and Yellow, with Original Label Remnants, 1960s/70s

Sculptural Murano Sommerso bowl in green and yellow, made in one of the Venetian Fornaci on the glass-blowing island of Murano, 1960s to early 1970s. The splash shape is one of the most expressive forms developed in post-war Muranese — three corners raised from the central bowl taper upwards, two swinging almost horizontally, two ascending, so that the silhouette is reminiscent of a frozen fountain or an opening blossom. The characteristic Sommerso technique embeds an intense emerald green layer of color into a core of golden yellow, transparently blown crystal, and additionally encases both layers with clear rock crystal glass. The result is a three-dimensional play of colors that is interpreted differently depending on the light: from above, the rich aquatic green dominates; viewed from the side, the yellow core shines through; and in backlight, the massive corners capture the light as golden-green reflections.

With a 24 cm leg line and 12 cm height, the bowl is a striking standalone piece for a sideboard, console, or dining table — as a fruit bowl, a pure sculpture, or an eye-catcher among minimalist decor. Very good vintage condition with no chips or scratches. The original paper label remains as a remnant and documents its origin from a Murano manufacturer — an important detail for collectors of Venetian art glass.
