Murano Sommerso Heart Bowl, Amber with Uranium Yellow Casing, Poli/Seguso Era 1960s

A small, physically heavy Sommerso bowl made of Murano glass in the classic-elegant two-tone of the Italian 1960s: a deep, warm amber core is encased in a uranium-yellow jacket and enclosed by a crystal-clear outer layer – three glass colors embedded in each other by dipping into successive baths of molten glass. The upper rim is heart-shaped on one side, so that when viewed from above, the bowl resembles an organic heart silhouette, with a soft notch on one side and a gently curved contour towards the back. The flared casing casts warm amber light into the interior, making the wall thickness appear like an amber lens.

The bowl measures 16 cm in width, 14 cm in depth, and 6.5 cm in height. Condition very good: the glass is chip and crack-free, the base shows the typical, subtle traces of wear and use for the 60s, the thick-walled body is absolutely clear. The uranium-yellow casing fluoresces under UV light – a detail that Vaseline glass collectors appreciate and that supports its dating to the 1960s. The shape is suitable as a tray for jewelry or small objects on a console, as a vide-poche in the hallway, or as a sculptural splash of color on the coffee table – and its weight and color depth make it much more than a mere accessory.
