Murano Sommerso Freeform Glass Bowl, Cobalt & Emerald Green, Seguso Style, 1960s/70s

This sculptural glass bowl made of hand-blown Murano glass showcases the classic Sommerso technique of Italian post-war modernism: multiple layers of colour were fused together one after another and encased in a thick, clear layer of glass. A luminous emerald green lies at the centre, transitioning outwards into a deep cobalt blue.

The bowl has an organic, free wave shape with gently extended, irregularly curved edges – typical of the free-form Sommerso bowls from Venetian workshops of the 1960s and early 1970s. The design language and colour combination strongly recall works from the circle of Flavio Poli for Seguso Vetri d'Arte, known for precisely this cobalt-green combination and the thick-walled, bulbous silhouette.

Regarding attribution: The piece bears no signature, no paper label, and no engraving. A definitive attribution to a specific glassblower or manufacturer is therefore not possible – many unmarked Sommerso pieces of this era are falsely attributed to Flavio Poli, which is why we consciously speak of a stylistic proximity ("Seguso style") rather than a secure attribution here.

The thick-walled, heavy glass and the precisely enclosed colour layers speak for high-quality production on the glassblowing island of Murano. The bowl is excellently suited as an eye-catcher on a sideboard, coffee table, or in a display cabinet and can be very well combined with other Sommerso or Murano objects.

The condition is very good; no chips, cracks, or scratches are visible.
