Murano Sommerso Freeform Triangle Dish — Emerald Green & Chartreuse, Pulled Tips, 1960s/70s

Free-form triangular Murano Sommerso bowl, probably made in the late 1960s to early 1970s, very close in form and color to the free-form works of Seguso Vetri d'Arte and Archimede Seguso's workshop during that period. The glass body shows two fused color layers in the classic Sommerso technique — a deep emerald green outer casing encases an intense chartreuse yellow core, which, when viewed from above, appears like a star-shaped flame bursting open in the center. The glass body is free-formed into a triangular basic shape with three strongly elongated, fire-drawn points, with combed rim waves in between — the result of the pinched-rim technique, where the master uses tongs to grip the still-hot glass mass into waves and pull the corners into fins. The narrow rim points stand majestically upright, the heavy glass core sits deep in the center, with a small polished pontil mark on the base.

The glass body measures 30 cm across the widely spread points and has a height of 8.5 cm — a generous centerpiece format that unfolds a sculptural effect on a coffee table, console, sideboard, or as a display piece, while also serving as a bowl for sweets, trinkets, or jewelry. Very good original condition: no visible chips or scratches, the glass clear and without clouding, the fire-drawn points intact, the Sommerso color play fully preserved. The luminous yellow-green color contrast is characteristic of Murano Sommerso production of the 60s/70s and indicates a uranium glass content in the yellow core — a materiality that transforms these objects into a luminous neon green under UV light and has become a collecting theme in its own right today.
