Murano Glass Bowl in Red, Yellow, Orange, and Brown · Italy 1960s
Murano, near Venice, has been one of the world's most significant centers for glassmaking since the 13th century. In the 1960s, the island experienced a particularly creative phase: manufacturers like Venini, Barovier & Toso, and Seguso experimented with strong color gradients, trapped air bubbles, and sommerso layering – techniques that continue to define this period for collectors today.
This bowl dates from precisely this era. Warm hues of red, yellow, orange, and brown merge into a fiery play of colors that shifts between luminous transparency and rich glow depending on the light. The organically shaped wall reveals the typical handcrafted modeling of Murano glass, making each piece unique.
Very good, original condition from the 1960s. An expressive collector's item that makes a statement on a sideboard, coffee table, or in a display cabinet arrangement.
