Kienzle Automatic Table Clock by Heinrich Möller, 1959

Kienzle Automatic Table Clock by Heinrich Möller, 1959

An iconic piece of German clockmaking from the Black Forest: the Kienzle Automatic table clock from 1959, designed by Heinrich Möller, chief designer of the Kienzle clock factory in Schwenningen since 1931 and for over four decades. A square solid brass case frames the characteristic, seemingly floating dial – a circle of polished brass ring with delicate stick indices and slender hands, held between two dark tinted glass plates. Above the dial, the discreet "Kienzle Automatic" signature in italic script. Two discrete black pedestal feet visually lift the body from the surface, giving the clock its floating, graphic presence.

Möller's design combines Bauhaus clarity with the material opulence of the late economic boom years and became a flagship of the Kienzle collection. With a height of 22 cm, a width of 21 cm, and a depth of only 3 cm, the clock fits on any sideboard, desk, or mantelpiece – 3 kg of weight ensure the stable, high-quality impression of a true prestige clock. Very good original condition with an evenly warm brass patina, undamaged glass plates, movement running.
