Ceramic vase, diabolo shape, orange-red and black, West German pottery, vintage 60s/70s

Small ceramic vase of West German art pottery, 1960s/1970s, in a compressed diabolo or club shape: wide, flared body, narrow recessed waist, and above it a cylindrical, slightly conically opening neck. The glaze is a glossy, deep orange-red, finely speckled over the entire body and fading into deep black at the waist, shoulder, and rim. The inside and the rim are glazed in black, which further emphasizes the color contrast. The base features a cream-colored, unglazed foot ring and a dark-slipped base area, containing a faintly legible mark, likely 'Germany'. As neither the model number nor the manufacturer's mark can be clearly determined, the vase is intentionally offered as unidentified West German pottery; the shape, glaze application, and base design correspond to the series production of the Rhineland-Palatinate manufactories of these years, as classified under the collective term West German Pottery. The diabolo shape in red and black is one of the sought-after silhouettes of this era and is effective both individually and in a group.

Dimensions: Height 15.3 cm, diameter 8 cm. Condition: very good vintage condition, glaze intact and glossy throughout, no chips, cracks, or repairs, minimal signs of age-related wear on the foot ring and production-related manufacturing marks in the glaze (see photos).
