Vintage Bar Cart by Ilse Möbel · Uslar, 1960s

In the 1950s and 1960s, ILSE furniture factories in Uslar (Lower Saxony) were among the largest manufacturers of small furniture in Europe. Founded in 1890 by Georg Ilse as a workshop for turnery, the company employed up to 2,800 people in four factories at its peak and shaped the furniture landscape of the economic miracle era with kidney-shaped tables, music cabinets, and mobile bar carts. "Beautiful design, quality craftsmanship, affordability" was the advertising slogan of those years.

This bar cart is a typical product of that production era. The body combines wood with white Resopal — the easy-care laminate surface that represented the 1960s like hardly any other material. The chrome-plated wooden frame with a wooden handle gives the piece the sleek, technically elegant line that characterized serving trolleys of the era. Four casters make it mobile, and the upper shelf offers space for bottles, glasses, or trays.

Original condition from the 1960s, well preserved overall. The chrome shows slight traces of flash rust due to age — an authentic patina feature that emphasizes its vintage provenance. A documented piece of German Mid-Century furniture history for collectors and anyone looking for "Wirtschaftswunder" furniture with character.
