Vintage Bar Cart by Ilse Möbel · Uslar, 1960s

In the 1950s and 1960s, ILSE furniture factories in Uslar (Lower Saxony) were among the largest manufacturers of small furniture in Europe. Founded in 1890 by Georg Ilse as a workshop for turned goods, the company employed up to 2,800 people at its peak in four factories and shaped the furniture landscape of the economic miracle era with kidney tables, music chests, and mobile bar tables. "Beautiful design, quality craftsmanship, reasonable price" was the advertising slogan of those years.

This bar cart is a typical product of this production era. The body combines wood with white Resopal—the easy-care laminate surface that represented the 60s like hardly any other material. The chrome-plated wooden frame with a wooden handle gives the piece the sleek, technically elegant lines that characterize serving trolleys of the era. Four castors make it mobile, and the upper shelf offers space for bottles, glasses, or trays.

Original condition from the 1960s, overall well preserved. The chrome shows slight signs of surface rust due to age—an authentic patina feature that emphasizes its vintage provenance.
