Ashtray set with holder, attributed to Walter Bosse, 1960s
This ashtray set from the 1960s is designed in the style of Walter Bosse. Walter Bosse (1904–1979) was an Austrian designer and sculptor whose small bronze and brass objects, often featuring animal and everyday motifs, are now sought-after collector's items of Austrian design.
The set consists of several ashtrays and a holder that functionally and decoratively brings the individual bowls together. The basic geometric shape and the clear composition of bowls and carrier make the object both practical to use and a subtle design accent on a table, sideboard, or console.
Thanks to its understated form, the set combines well with mid-century furniture, brass objects, or other small vintage pieces. Even regardless of its original function, it is suitable as a storage object for small items such as keys, coins, or pieces of jewelry.
