Edra Designklassiker 60er 70er Möbel Manufaktur

Edra

A comparatively young company in high-quality furniture production, but Edra has managed to make a significant name for itself in a very short time. Their timeless, yet always modern furniture, made from high-quality materials and of the highest quality, firmly rooted in craftsmanship and artistic tradition, contributed significantly to the success in the seating furniture sector. In addition to her craftsmanship expertise, Edra also carries out its own patented technological developments in the field of upholstery. In 2004, her self-developed cushion pad “Gellyfoam” received a patent. Exclusive sofas and armchairs are the result of this progressive design work.

Of course, highly qualified employees play a crucial role in success, be it in research, production or quality control. Nevertheless, Edra also likes to obtain ideas and designs from external sources by commissioning well-known designers or developing their designs and integrating them into their production. An outstanding design was enough to make Edra known worldwide. This happened back in 1989, when the still young but already well-known Italian designers Mario Cananzi and Roberto Semprini submitted an unusual sofa proposal and Edra implemented it. A round sofa, designed as the center of a room, with a tapered backrest in the shape of a spiral - a design never seen before. Under the name "TATLIN" it became a huge success and received prizes and awards, even outside Italy. The “TATLIN” sofa is still manufactured by Edra today with various contemporary covers.

Edra's reputation is reflected in impressive exhibitions at renowned international museums. Exhibitions for contemporary art took place in the "Triennale" in Milan, in the "Vitra Design Museum", in the "Neuesammlung" in Munich, in the "Musée d'Orsay", in the "Centre Pompidou" in Paris and even in the MoMA New York instead.

The Edra furniture company was founded in Perignano, Tuscany in 1987. The company's own designer and artistic director, Massimo Morozzi, had a somewhat conservative attitude, but also trusted young designers and integrated modern, unconventional designs into the company's philosophy. In this way, Edra created its own design identity and personal motto: "Combine beauty with personal well-being".
