There is no signature or label on the base, so we refrain from attributing it to a specific workshop. The technique, with fused-in colour powders, fine air bubbles and a spirally drawn decor, follows the tradition shaped by studio glass workshops in Germany, Great Britain and Scandinavia during this period.

The flattened, spherical body is blown with very thin walls and is accordingly light. Dense dark spiral lines run around the sage to olive green glass from the neck to the base, created as the glass was turned, and between them sit countless small air bubbles that give the surface a lively, slightly granular texture. Depending on the light, the glass shows a silvery metallic sheen. The short, smoky dark neck ends in an applied rim of clear glass that reads like a narrow collar. On the underside the decor condenses into an amber and copper coloured swirl with fine red inclusions, with the reddish pontil mark at its centre.

With its narrow opening, the vase suits a single branch or a few grasses, but also works without flowers as a glass object on a sideboard, windowsill or shelf, where backlight brings out the bubbles and the sheen. It fits a mid-century interior as well as a calm, modern setting. Bubbles, streaks and slight irregularities in the glass are inherent to the making and are not damage. The vase measures 11.5 cm in height and 14.5 cm in diameter and is in very good condition.
