From its deep red center, the color transitions through a vibrant orange into clear crystal glass, which becomes completely transparent at the ends of the long, drawn-out points. Along the inner rim, the bowl still bears its original red foil label with the silver inscription "Made in Murano Italy," as used by the glassworks on the lagoon island for their export goods. We have consciously chosen not to attribute the bowl to a single glasshouse; its shape, coloring, and technique suggest it was created in the 1960s or 1970s.

The shape was modeled freehand at the furnace. Several long points extend outward and slightly upward in a star pattern, with smaller, wavy, serrated tongues forming along the rim in between. Strong ribs run from the base to the tips, structuring the interior, while a solid, angular foot made of clear glass with a subtle yellowish shimmer supports the bowl. The thick glass wall gives it a noticeable weight and refracts the light so that the colors shift between cherry red, orange, and amber depending on the viewing angle.

On a dining table, sideboard, or console, the bowl serves as a sculptural centerpiece, and when backlit by a window, the vibrant play of colors in the sommerso glass is particularly highlighted. It complements a mid-century or vintage interior just as well as a minimalist, modern décor. The bowl measures 37 cm in diameter and 15 cm in height and is in very good condition; the original label is still intact. Small bubbles and irregularities in the glass are inherent to the manufacturing process and are part of the character of hand-blown craftsmanship.

https://artfillsspace.com/en/products/murano-sommerso-schale-rot-orange-sternform-originaletikett-37-cm
