Three tall wings were pulled upwards from a strongly ribbed gather of glass, wrapping around an open centre like the petals of an opening flower or like flames. Freely pulled forms of this kind are typical of post-war work from the Venetian glass island and are known in related versions from several glassworks. There is no label or signature on this piece, which is why no specific manufacturer or designer is named.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThe glass is coloured throughout in a rich emerald green which, depending on the wall thickness, ranges from a luminous, translucent green at the thinly drawn wing tips to an almost black-green tone in the solid base. In the bottom, strong ribs radiate in a star pattern from a central boss and continue as stripes far up the inner sides of the wings, creating a lively play of light and dark bands. The edges of the wings are drawn out in waves and end in small, curled tips; seen from above, the bowl has a triangular plan with three wide-open bays. The base is ground flat and polished.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eAs a solitaire on a sideboard, console or dining table, as a centrepiece or in front of a window where light passes through the green glass, the bowl brings strong colour and a lively silhouette to a mid-century interior as well as to a contemporary setting.
